Course Description
Value Development Coaching (VDC) is the intentional development of occupational competence within the context of family and community, expanding “career” to encompass the individual’s full life space, facilitating the global development of the person. Clients who are poorly motivated or languishing become focused on re-establishing optimal quality of life. Especially helpful with persons who have multiple impairments, VDC uses measurable functional outcomes that track progress to justify ongoing participation, assuring that intervention costs are managed.
Advanced Value Development Coaching is a six-month certification process for professionals who want to expand their practices with Dr. Matheson as their professional mentor.
Anchored by a three-day seminar with Dr. Matheson at his clinic, a customized VDC experience will be used for didactic training, small group exercises and one-on-one counseling to set the stage for six months of follow-up using monthly teleconferences as well as assigned readings and audio recordings.
As you experience the efficacy of VDC in your life, you will learn how to provide many of these services to your clients and how to guide your colleagues to provide VDC services that are beyond your professional boundaries.
This is an advanced training experience, open only to those who are fully credentialed health services providers who have practiced independently for at least 5 years.
Participation is limited to six in each seminar. On successful completion of the training and your personal VDC Goaling Process, each participant will be certified by EpicRehab as a VDC Coach.
Certification as a VDC Mentor is available after one year of practice as a VDC Coach.
Space is limited, based on when the completed application and deposit is received. Pre-work is required; completion of the 16 Personality Factors Questionnaire, which will be used by Dr. Matheson to focus the seminar to the individual participant’s needs.
