Study the tension in your shoulders and in your chest. Hold that tension there.
And now relax. Allow the shoulders to drop—allow the chest to expand— feeling very heavy and relaxed, breathing deeply and comfortably, exhaling your mantra.
Now tense your shoulders and your chest muscles once again. The shoulders and chest are tensed. Study the tension in the shoulders.
Hold that tension, allowing your breathing to continue comfortably, allowing relaxation in the rest of your body to proceed while attention is centered in your shoulders and chest.
And now relax the shoulders and chest. Allow the shoulders to drop. Allow the chest to settle down. Shoulders and chest now feeling heavier.
Allow the tension that was in your shoulders to leave. Enjoy the contrast. Choose relaxation.
