Before you begin, I want you to think of a special experience in your past when you were safe, comfortable, and relaxed. It might have been recently or it might have been a long time ago.

The special experience in your past when you were safe, comfortable, and relaxed might have been a place, such as a beach on a nice summer day, or in a tree in the woods, or someplace in your childhood home, on the front porch, or in the backyard.

Your personal prayer might be a short name for a safe place, such as “Sandy Beach”, or “Tree House”, or “Grandpa’s Couch”, or “Grandma’s Swing”.

The special experience in your past when you were safe, comfortable, and relaxed might have included something you saw, or felt, or smelled.

Your personal prayer might be a short name for what you saw, or felt, or smelled, such as “sunset”, or “Milky Way”, or “fireflies”, or “warm breeze”, or “honeysuckle”, or “baking bread”.

The special experience in your past when you were safe, comfortable, and relaxed might have included something spiritual.

Your personal prayer might be a short name for your spiritual experience, such as “hosanna”, or “God”, or “Jesus”, or “Abba”, or “Holy Spirit”.

Stop now and select your personal prayer, a word or short phrase that you are going to say to yourself during these instructions to train your brain to help you relax.

Turn off the instructions now until you have a prayer that you want to use to train your brain to use to help you relax.
